A pulsed light source using a green LED for use as a reference element in gain stabilization of scintillation detectors is described. The temperature effects are compensated for by a thermistor incorporated in the dc circuit of the current source. The light output has proved stable to ∼0.1% in the laboratory environments where the changes in temperature are within ±5°C or so.
