Genome report reveals a 705.71-megabase chromosome-level assembly in Lepidochitona cinerea, highlighting genomic resources for molluscan evolutionary biology.
We present a genome assembly from an individual Lepidochitona cinerea (cinereous chiton; Mollusca; Polyplacophora; Chitonida; Tonicellidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 705.71 megabases. Most of the assembly (99.68%) is scaffolded into 15 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 14.97 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 17 286 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
