Cationic conductance of silver sulphide has been measured in the temperature range 200 to 440 °C, using silver iodide as an electron blockade. Making use of these measurements the self‐diffusion coefficients of silver in α‐Ag2S have been calculated. Comparison of these data with the results of radio‐isotopic studies reported by Allen and Moore and application of the correlation theory have shown that diffusion of silver in α‐Ag2S proceeds according to the collinear interstitial mechanism.
