The inheritance mode of hexythiazox resistance was analyzed in the citrus red mite, Panonychus citri (MCGREGOR), which was selected for resistance in the laboratory after collection from a citrus orchard at Haibara-machi in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The reciprocal and back cross experiments were conducted using the susceptible Haibara-S and the resistant Haibara-R strains, in which the values of LC50 were 0.462ppm and over 8000ppm, respectively. The inheritance mode of hexythiazox resistance in the eggs of Haibara-R strain was suggested to be incompletely recessive controlled by a single major gene. The estimated values of degree of dominance (D) were -0.40 and -0.59 for the heterogeneous female eggs, SR and RS, respectively. * Studies on HexythiazoxResistance in Phytophagous Mites (Part 3).For Part 2, see pp. 493-501.
