Concentration profiles for disperse dyes within single filament nylon fibers have been measured during dry heat and steam fixation at 121°C and 149°C. Diffusivities have been computed from concentration profiles using the Matano method. The results are compared to earlier studies of dyeing nylon with disperse dyes. It is pointed out that fibers are anisotropic heterogenous materials, and the diffusion of dyes is discussed in this light.
