The differential cross section for excitation of the ground state of helium to the 2 3 S state is calculated using the 11-state and the 19-state R-matrix methods. Convergence studies are carried out among the five-state, 11-state and 19-state R-matrix calculations. Only the 19-state R-matrix results are presented in full at scattering angles 30', 55', 90', 125' and 140' from the excitation threshold up to 23.8 eV. The calculations are performed at more than seven hundred energy points to reproduce previously observed resonant profiles.
