We use quantum Monte Carlo simulations to calculate the magnetic and pairing correlations of two-dimensional Hubbard sheets coupled by an interlayer hopping t_⊥. We find that large t_⊥ reduces in-plane magnetic correlations despite the increased lattice coordination, and also see evidence for a crossover to a spin-liquid phase where there is no long-range magnetic order in the ground state. Superconducting correlations are reduced by the interlayer coupling at the temperatures accessible to the simulations.
