Data are reported for the compression of selenium and a-glucose in both glassy and crystalline modifications at 21 0 C between 1,000 and 10,000 atmospheres. The compressibilities of the glassy form were found to be considerably larger than those of the crystals. A transition of unknown origin was observed to occur in glassy glucose between 7,000 and 8,000 atmospheres.
