To Editor: —In three successive papers read before different medical societies during period 1909 to 1915 I described incidence, symptomatology, course and termination of peculiar to which I gave name roseola infantum. In last few years many descriptions of disease have appeared. I would express here my appreciation for generous credit that has been accorded me in work of separating this symptom-complex from multitude of eruptions in infancy. Even Heiman, in reviewing subject (Arch. Pediat., July, 1925, p. 454) admits that nothing has been added to my original descriptions except that Levy and later Veeder and Hempleman described characteristic leukopenia. Objections have been made, however, to nomenclature. Veeder and Hempleman objected to roseola infantum, and proposed instead exanthem subitum. Heiman calls disease the critical pre-eruptive fever.
