A New Efficient Synthesis of (R,R)-2,2′-Bipyrrolidine: An Interesting Chiral 1,2-Diamine withC2 Symmetry

Making stairs: A new conformational concept is presented for the synthesis of derivatives of C2-symmetrical 1,2-diamines, where a stairlike arrangement is imposed on the molecule. A new efficient synthesis of (R,R)-bipyrrolidine is described; the picture shows the X-ray structure of the (R,R)-bipyrrolidine/ZnCl2 complex.
