Water‐insoluble crosslinked starch was reacted with ethylenimine to yield polyethylenimine covalently bonded to the starch. Other products were prepared by reacting crosslinked starch containing 3‐chloro‐2‐hydroxypropyl groups with polyethylenimine. The products were evaluated in removal of heavy metal cations and anions from industrial wastewater.
