The photoemission of atomic Fe, Co and Ni has been obtained in the photon energy range 50-80 eV. The strong coupling of the 3p 6 3d n 4s 2 to 3p 5 3d n+1 4s 2 excitations with the 3p 6 3d n 4s 2 to 3p 6 3d n-1 4s 2 , 3p 6 3d n 4s ionisation of the outer 3d and 4s shells leads to a resonant enhancement of the photoemission lines above the 3p threshold. For Ni the contributions of the 3p 6 3d 8 4s to 3p 5 3d 9 4s 2 and 3p 6 3d 9 4s to 3p 5 3d 10 4s transitions can in part be separated.
