The NMR linewidth of Kel–F fibers is unusual in that the component assigned to the amorphous regions of this semicrystalline polymer exhibits anisotropy as a function of fiber orientation with respect to applied magnetic field at temperatures near 140 °C. This feature is attributed to anisotropy in the motion of folds on lamellar surfaces. A model based upon a wormlike chain, with ends constrained to a plane surface, adequately describes the experimental observations.
