Absorption and fluorescence spectra observed in defective partially polymerized crystals of bis (p-toluene sulphonate) diacetylene are described. Some spectral features may be attributed to polydiacetylene chains associated with dislocations in the defective crystals. Possible models for the origin of these spectral features are suggested.
