We demonstrated the fabrication of a carbon nanotube (CNT) array with microscopic spacing encapsulated into freely suspended flexible films with a nanoscale thickness. This result implies that freely suspended carbon nanotube arrays embedded in nanoscale polymer films can be assembled providing access from both sides and helping to tune micromechanical elastic properties.
