Two methods are compared to derive molecular oxygen concentration by absorption spectroscopy of the solar hydrogen Lyman-alpha line: a classical one, using a constant absorption cross section for O2 in the vicinity of Lyman α and, another one, using a wavelength-dependent cross section. It is shown that the results differ slightly but that this difference cannot explain the abnormal absorption observed by the author between the altitudes 90 and 100 km.
