SUMMARY The embryology and pathology of the mesodermal appendages of the testis, epididymis, and spermatic cord are reviewed with a description of the clinical picture of torsion of these structures. Three unusual cases of intrascrotal appendages are reported. The possibility that enlargement of the appendix of the testis precedes torsion is discussed.
