Large-amplitude, long-wavelength Alfven waves in self-gravitating, magnetically supported clouds imply a linewidth-size relation (Delta-nu)wave approximately = 1.4(B/30 micro-G)0.5(R/1 pc)0.5 km/s, where B is the mean magnetic field strength and R the radius of the cloud. This relation is in excellent quantitative agreement with observations of objects (clouds, cores, and OH masers) for which the nonthermal linewidth (Delta-nu)NT, the FWHM size R, and the field strength B have been measured.
