A theoretical analysis of the resistance to bending of set plain-woven fabrics is presented. It is shown that no forces will be generated at the crossover points between the warp and weft threads when a fabric is bent by an external couple. The analysis yields convenient formulae for calculating the bending parameters of fabrics, the bending rigidity Band coercive couple M 0. The formulae show reasonable agreement with experimental results and good consistency with the conclusion which was drawn from data computation by Grosberg.
