The results of molecular dynamics simulations of defects in copper are reported. Both point and extended defects were studied. Good agreement is found between the experimental and computed vacancy and interstitial migration enthalpies. The divacancy was observed to dissociate at temperatures above 1100 K. In addition, disc-like platelets of vacancies were studied and were found to collapse forming dislocation loops.
