Nanoscale multiplexing biosensors: Biosensors fabricated using silicon-nanowire-based field-effect transistors not only have high sensitivity but can be multiplexed so that a number of analytes have unique properties, exhibiting reversibility of immunobinding and insignificant levels of nonspecific binding. The excellent performance of these biosensors can be attributed partly to their nanoscale dimensions, where only a small number of binding events are being detected.
