Conceptual framework proposes integrating territorial knowledge into engineering systems, highlighting community-driven adaptation beyond standard performance metrics.
Engineering plays a key role in the development of technologies to address societal problems. Usually, these solutions are focused on the fulfillment of indicators associated with energy consumption, efficiency, environmental impact, purity, and other performance indicators. Nevertheless, communities are not passive recipients of technological innovation. Therefore, engineering could become a living infrastructure of territorial knowledge: a dynamic system capable of integrating scientific knowledge, local practices, ancestral knowledge, social organization, and environmental adaptation into evolving frameworks of learning.
