Systematic content analysis uncovers methodological weaknesses in data evaluation within management research, highlighting the need for improved library information literacy training.
This study examines bibliometric research in management and organization in Türkiye as an indicator of information literacy in scholarly practice. Using systematic content analysis, it analyzes 130 studies identified through a multistage screening process. The analysis focuses on research questions, dataset construction and reporting, data cleaning, threshold values, bibliometric techniques, and interpretation of findings. The results show relatively strong performance in accessing information but clear methodological weaknesses in evaluating and using information. The findings highlight the need for more critical uses of bibliometric methods and offer implications for information literacy instruction, consultation, and research support services in academic libraries.
