Literature review reveals pathways for high-value utilization of vanadium-bearing solid wastes, highlighting strategies for cleaner resource recovery and environmental remediation.
Vanadium‐bearing solid wastes (VBSWs) have emerged as a key research priority in resource recovery and environmental remediation because of their high resource value, large generation volume, and complex phase composition. However, practical utilization of these wastes still faces major challenges, including heavy environmental burdens, ill‐suited recycling technologies, and a low rate of high‐value utilization. Therefore, the development of efficient and environmentally friendly treatment technologies is crucial for securing vanadium supply, promoting the sustainable development of the vanadium industry, and achieving carbon peak and neutrality goals. This study systematically summarizes the process mineralogical characteristics of four typical VBSWs: vanadium‐titanium magnetite tailings (VTMTs), vanadium slag, spent vanadium catalysts, and vanadium‐containing sludge. It focuses on reviewing current technologies and their practical applications for the synergistic utilization and high‐value conversion of components in these wastes. Additionally, the study analyzes existing technical bottlenecks and proposes optimization pathways, aiming to provide a scientific basis for the targeted, green, and efficient utilization of VBSWs and to guide advancement toward cleaner, higher‐value development. Finally, future directions for high‐value utilization technologies are proposed to further promote the treatment and resource recovery of VBSWs.
