Computational analysis demonstrates superior vibration mitigation in X-cross acoustic black hole panels, indicating robust performance under varying thermal and moisture conditions.
This study investigates the performance of different sandwich cellular core configurations, namely GRID, OCTET, VINTILES, and X_CROSS, for structural vibration mitigation and broadband isolation. The analysis focuses on Transmission Loss (TL), the Mean Square Velocity (MSV) ratio, and the influence of varying temperature and moisture conditions. Results show that the X_CROSS core with 16 Acoustic Black Holes (ABHs) and [0/0/0] orientation demonstrates the highest TL and lowest MSV ratio within the investigated parameter range, achieving effective vibration suppression. Elevated temperatures enhance performance by increasing material damping and wave-scattering effects, whereas moisture absorption reduces efficiency, particularly at lower ABH counts. The study further validates the Gaussian Expansion Method (GEM) integrated with first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT), against Finite Element Method (FEM) results, confirming that GEM is a reliable tool for modal analysis. These findings provide valuable insights for the design of vibration-suppressive structures operating under diverse environmental conditions.
