Polymers containing dynamically isolated polymethylene segments of various lengths were obtained from the reaction of bisphenol‐A‐diglycidyl ether with α,ω‐diamines. On the basis of the mechanical damping data of these polymers, it was established that the shortest polymethylene segment to show the −125°C. γ dispersion, characteristic of polyethylene, must consist of at least five carbon atoms.
