A case is described of a woman who, after three years of diphenylhydantoin therapy because of epilepsia, developed a rapidly lethal condition which at autopsy proved to have the histopathological picture of malignant lymphogranulomatosis. Reticulum cell hyperplasia of the type which has been described as a complication of hydantoin therapy was also present. Malignant lymphoma in a few patients receiving diphenylhydantoin medication has been described earlier. This is the first such case in which microscopically verified malignant changes in liver, spleen and bone marrow have been reported.
