A stiffness matrix is developed for an isotropic rectangular plate panel of uniform thickness for application to the analysis of thin plates of variable thickness in bending. The convergence characteristics of this matrix are demonstrated on simple problems with known exact, analog, and experimental solutions. The usefulness of the matrix in the determination of the elastic characteristics of thin, low aspect-ratio wings is exhibited.
