HD 2 RNet: hybrid drift-enabled distributed recurrent network for intrusion detection in edge computing

Edge computing provides efficient processing however, the distributed and heterogeneous nature of IoT-edge systems brings forth challenges in terms of security, interoperability, and resource management. Therefore, this research proposes, an improved intrusion detection system termed the Hybrid Drift enabled Distributed weight-tuned Recurrent Network (HD2RNet) to detect and classify intrusions accurately to ensure secure operation and protect sensitive data in edge environments. During performance evaluation, the HD2RNet obtained a 97.68% accuracy, a 97.26% recall, 98.16% precision, and 97.71% F1 score on the TON-IoT dataset respectively.
