A rotating disk electrode assembly is described for interchangeable electrodes of 1–1000 mm2 exposed surface area. In aqueous solutions the speed of rotation can be varied between 50 and 40 000 rpm for the smallest, and between 50 and 5000 rpm for the largest electrode diameters. The standard deviation from the nominal value of the revolutions per unit time is less than ±0.05%. At maximum speed, the eccentricity of the free end of the electrode is ±2.5 μ. At 40 000 rpm and a current of 0.5 A the noise voltage at the electric contact on the shaft of the electrode is less than 0.2 mV.
