A convenient and reliable spectrophotometric technique for the quantitative determination of calcium‐complexing constants is presented. A cal‐cium‐ion sensitive dye, Calmagite, at a pH between 10 and 10.6, was found to be suitable for these deter‐minations. The theoretical and practical bases for the use of Calmagite are described.
