udicky [1986] recently reported excellent agreement between the observed tracer plume spatial distribution in a sand aquifer and that predicted by stochastic theory using measured values of hydraulic conductivity K of remixed core samples from the aquifer. It is illustrated that repacking sand samples can give q.uite different mean K and variance of In K values from those of intact cores. Thus although apparently successful at Borden, this practice cannot be valid for field hydrologic studies in general.
