Temperature dependence of the intrinsic coercivity (HcI ) of Pr17 (Fe0.9 Co0.1 )83−x Bx has been measured above room temperature and analyzed by expressing HcI as the difference between a term proportional to the anisotropy field (HA ) and a term corresponding to a local demagnetization field. The fraction in HA available as an impeding force against nucleation of inverse domains does not appear to be decreased by the Co addition in a magnet with a high boron content, indicating that magnetic correlation of hard magnetic particles is one of the key parameters which determines HcI in this type of magnet. It is also shown that changes in the local demagnetization field account for the heat treatment effects.
