The effect of impurities on the P 1 peak in copper is not only to increase its height but also to cause some shift in peak temperature. This shift is caused by a change in frequency factors and not the activation energy. The peak width shows that there is not a unique relaxation time, and from the application of a log normal distribution function the broadness of the peak is caused by a distribution in both frequency factors and activation energies.
