Fe 25 Cu 75 samples were prepared by mechanical alloying followed by annealing. Mossbauer and magnetic measurements indicate superparamagnetic behaviour of the as-milled sample, probably due to the existence of Fe-rich regions in the FCC Cu matrix. Annealing causes the formation of alpha -Fe, which precipitates from Fe atoms dissolved in the Fee Cu phase. Magnetoresistance measurements for the as-milled sample show a 5.6-7.31 drop in resistance at 300 K and 50 K respectively, in applied fields of 12 T.
