Electrochemical properties of C 60 F 46 and C 70 F 54 have been studied by cyclic voltammetry (CV) in CH 2 Cl 2 containing 0.1 M tetrabutylammonium hexafluorophosphate ( TBAPF 6 ) . The electrochemical reductions of C 70 F 54 are reported for the first time. The reduction potential of C 70 F 54 is more positive than that of C 70 by 1.57 V. The differences in electrochemical properties between C 70 F x and C 70 are parallel to the differences between C 60 F x and C 60 . Based on the relationship between the reduction potential and electron affinity ( E a ), the E a of C 70 F 54 is estimated to be ca. 4.42 eV, which is 1.76 eV larger than that of C 70 .
