The linear thermal expansion of KCl has been measured from room temperature (26°C) to near the melting point (776°C), using the Fizeau interferometer technique. The results are compared with previous values quoted in the literature. It is believed, for reasons discussed in the paper, that the results obtained in this determination are the best values of the coefficient of linear thermal expansion of KCl at elevated temperatures that are available to date.
