The authors considered this to be a »Durchbruch des Exponentialgesetzes«, in which they comprise the formula of the uni-molecular reaction as well as the expression of adsorption. The phenomenon seemed to them., to show that the destruction of choline esters, caused by blood, was not of an enzymatic nature, but a process of adsorption. This view has, however, been given up by Plattner in a later communication (1930).Calculations of the hydrolysis constants from data given by Kahlson and Uvnäs (1935) confirm the results of Gahler and Plattner.Kahlson and Uvnäs also used the biological method, but in their experiments the duration of hydrolysis was considerably longer, up to 14 minutes. Moreover, the time required for the rate of hydrolysis to reach its maximum seems to vary considerably with different ferment holdiog fluids.
