A pattern‐reconfigurable quasi‐Yagi microstrip antenna is presented. Its main beam in the E‐plane can scan from −66° to +63° in the upper‐half space by using a switch‐controlled photonic band gap (PBG) structure, while maintaining an operating frequency of approximately 9.65 GHz. The antenna is analyzed using Ansoft HFSS. The measured and simulated results of the three configurations of the antenna are provided.
