Faits and festivals tend to be in the same category of cultural and entertaining events, which face an important renewal process, both formal and thematic. This revival expresses itself through countless creations, but also through the disappearance or the transformation of many outdated festivals, which have lost their social meaning. Those new (or renovated) evenes are characterized by an institutional takeover, by a growing artistic dimension and by their increasing political, ideological and economical functions. As far as geography is concerned, festivals deal with identity représentations and stage the image of unified cities and regions standing together. Those events inscribe the places in which they take place in geography of networks that give importance to the European and World scales through dynamic relations between local and global scales, rural and urban, public and private spaces. In this context, and despite the numerous aggressions it undergoes, the specific and sequential space-time of festivals seems to resist.
