Doping is interpreted by sport ethical critics as an infringement of and treason to the idea of "pure" sport. By dramatizing doping as an event of contingency, as an accident and misdevelopment of past and present sport and by presenting it as harmless, any chance of bringing light on sport's and sport sciences' essential characteristics by analyzing the example of doping will consequently be missed. Doping is a constituant part of modern sport and of sport science.
