A cohort study of 166 patients evaluated long-term outcomes of endoluminal treatment for abdominal aortic aneurysms using Parodi and Vanguard endografts, with no specific results reported in the abstract.
Why the study?
What are the long-term and mid-term outcomes and late adverse events of endoluminal treatment for abdominal aortic aneurysms using the Parodi Endograft compared to the Vanguard Endograft?

What are the long-term and mid-term outcomes and late adverse events of endoluminal treatment for abdominal aortic aneurysms using the Parodi Endograft compared to the Vanguard Endograft?
This study evaluates the long-term and mid-term safety and efficacy of endoluminal treatment for abdominal aortic aneurysms using two different endograft systems.
Long-term Parodi and Vanguard endograft data remain unavailable; leaves open durability and late-event questions in AAA repair.
INTRODUCTION Endoluminal treatment of aneurysms has emerged as a potential therapeutic alternative since its introduction in 1991. Although initial and midterm results of endoluminal aneurysm exclusion are very encouraging, late adverse events still represent a big limitation for the widespread use of the technique. In order to obtain information about the longterm results, we retrospectively reviewed the data available of thirty consecutive patients followed for more than five years after the endoluminal treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) using the home-made Parodi Endograft (PE). In addition, prospectively gathered information of 136 consecutive patients treated using the Vanguard Endograft (Boston Scientific Corp, Natick, MA) was analyzed. Only midterm results (mean 28 months, range 7 to 53 months) were available for evaluation in the latter group (VE). The information served as a base of comparison with the results of the PE group.

Parodi et al. (2002) conducted a cohort in abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) (n=166). Endoluminal treatment (Parodi Endograft) vs. Vanguard Endograft was evaluated on Long-term results and late adverse events. A cohort study of 166 patients evaluated long-term outcomes of endoluminal treatment for abdominal aortic aneurysms using Parodi and Vanguard endografts, with no specific results reported in the abstract.
