The authors develop a method devised for calculating the frequency-dependent spin susceptibility, chi s, of paramagnetic metals in its full dependence on the spatial arguments. The method is based on the local spin density functional approach and the multiple scattering theory representation of the one-particle Green function. The presence of substantial exchange-correlation enhancement effects requires the solution of an RPA-like integral equation for chi s. They show in detail how this can be achieved without introducing significant approximations. They present results for the enhanced inhomogeneous static and dynamic spin susceptibilities of Pd at 0K and calculate the transverse magnetic neutron scattering cross sections.
