The influence of the surrounding atomic configuration on the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate of Pt in disordered CuxPt1−x alloys has been studied theoretically by calculating the electronic structure of CuPt clusters embedded in a coherent potential approximation medium. The resulting average nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate is found to be in a very satisfying agreement with experiment.
