High resolution transmission electron micrographs of a superconducting Ba2YCu3O7-x sample with T c≃90 K prepared by the standard ceramic method reveal a coherent intergrowth of tetragonal domains in the ordinary orthorhombic (110) twin lamellas. Short-range ordering in the Cu(I)-O plane is observed in some tetragonal domains as lined contrasts running parallel to one of the basal-plane axes.
