The X‐ray linear absorption coefficients have been measured for the alkali halides LiF, NaF, and NaCl using characteristic radiations ranging from SnKα1 to CrKα1. From these measurements values of the imaginary part Δf″ and the real part Δf′ of the X‐ray dispersion correction have been deduced for each atomic species. A comparison is made with the values of μ/ϱ, Δf′, and Δf″, which have been calculated by Cromer and Liberman using relativistic quantum mechanics.
