The main object of this paper is to present a picture of ringworm of the scalp in the Eastern Region of Scotland (counties of Angus and Perth) from July 1, 1946, to the end of 1947. During this period there were two epidemics of small-spore ringworm and 631 cases were seen. Owing mostly to lack of appreciation of the factors involved, mis- leading or doubtful statements are still being made about ringworm of the scalp, and the opportunity is here taken to make categorical statements when these appear justified. Some experiments with local treatment are described.
