In the case of an isotropic medium it is possible to evaluate the stress field of an angular dislocation lying parallel to a free surface, and then to get the stress field of each arm in its own coordinates. From this result the stress field of a dislocation segment is readily obtainable, and the stress field of any polygonal loop directly follows.
