Summary The results of experimental and analytical studies on the redistribution of moments in 21 beams tested to destruction under certain arrangements of concentrated loads are presented. For most of the beams, the results differed from those computed by Guyon's method. An extension of this method has been proposed by taking into consideration the concentration of curvature at the plastic hinges. Close agreement was found between the experimental and the calculated results based on the modified procedure.
