The electrical resistivity has been measured as a function of temperature for manganese-iron, manganese-chromium and manganese-iron-chromium alloys with the α-manganese structure. The Neel temperature is raised by iron and depressed by chromium, and the form of the resistivity-temperature curves indicates that the antiferromagnetic transition modifies the electronic structure significantly. Theoretical curves closely resembling those observed can be constructed from simple assumptions about the effect of this modification.
